News Release
California aesthetic comes to Muskoka
First ever Margo Inc. Pop Up Sale featuring vintage California
home furnishings.
Toronto, ON, June 9, 2015:
Since the 1920’s, Palm Springs, California has been the geographic centre for a design
aesthetic known as Desert Modernism. Inspired by the dramatic surroundings of the
Coachella Valley, Palm Springs attracted visionary, modernist architects and designers who
created homes and interiors featuring this unique style. But for residents of the Ontario
region who embrace this design movement, finding these unique, one of a kind furnishings
has proven elusive.
This is the situation Margo Haines, principal at Margo Inc. found herself in. “I grew up
vacationing in Palm Springs and I’ve always been influenced by the inspiring design
landscape of California. During recent years attending the Modernism Show and vintage
markets in Palm Springs I would see unique pieces I knew my clients and friends would love
but I couldn’t fit a fantastic étagère, sofa or chair in my suitcase! How could I get these
character pieces into my clients’ homes and cottages?”
On her last visit Margo decided it was time to bring the best of Palm Springs back to
Ontario. She filled a shipping container with carefully selected items and shipped them
home. July 1 - 5, these curated vintage California treasures will be available in a Pop Up
sale being held at the SWS Marina in Port Carling, 1112 Juddhaven Road. Sale opens at
9AM on Wednesday, July 1st while items last. For more detail visit www.margohaines.com
